History of FBE

The Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) is one of the first faculties in the University of Surabaya (Ubaya), a private university that was founded on March 11, 1968.
In the early days of its establishment, this faculty was seriously short of resources both financially, infrastructure and teaching staff. However, with the idealism and high morale of its founders (some of the bureaucrats, military and businessmen) and the first academicians, FBE was able to survive and eventually develop until now to become one of the largest and best economics faculties at the national level.
The challenge to survive and be responsible for the mission of national education in order to improve the quality of life, motivated by the attitude and determination and big ideas of the board of directors of the foundation and the leadership of the University / Faculty at that time, namely being able to fly with their own wings and being able to have the confidence to face future challenges.
In addition, a very fundamental value found in FBE at the beginning of its development was the integration of Indonesian youth who came from various socio-economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds into a strong bond of brotherhood and unity.
These various fundamental values ??are the legacy of the founders and have been preserved until now. Apart from the values ??of professionalism as an absolute necessity in anticipating existing changes.
Appreciation for pluralism and humanism are highly respected by students, lecturers and administrative staff at FBE and at the University.
Based on this history, FBE has strong and long traditional ties with the business world / business community and industry as well as with government circles and other strata of society who have high attention to the world of education in Indonesia. Currently (up to the even semester of the 2002-2003 academic year), FBE has around 4500 active students spread across three departments / study programs. Besides that, FBE has around 100 permanent lecturers and 70 non-permanent lecturers. The majority of FE lecturers already have postgraduate degrees (Masters and Doctorate) from various leading universities at home and abroad (US, UK, Austra).
